2010: the Year of the Hero

2010: the Year of the Hero

4 Jan, 2010

Activision will be making more Hero games in 2010. Wow. Who’d have seen that coming, eh?

“[There'll be] more DJ Hero, and the next iterations of Guitar and Band [Heroes] are on the way. But we will see how the market plays out. What you will see is the games will live longer and be more vibrant through DLC,” says Dan Rosenweig, Activision’s CEO. “We’re working on our 2010 slate now. You will probably see fewer SKUs from us, but the focus on making the best-selling, most fun to play, best-reviewed games will continue. Those are the things that are constant.”

Translation? We’re gonna keep milking the current Hero franchises for as long as we can. And yeah, that sounds cynical, but as I’m a complete Guitar Hero fangirl, this news actually makes me happy. Sad, I know.

    Have you seen this?

Microsoft is trying to make it possible for you to air guitar on Guitar Hero. I think that’s so cool! Here in D.C, there’s a yearly contest about best air guitarist and it even has a celebrity judge panel. Last year it was some ‘reporters’ from the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

And I bet my power stance is fiercer than yours, Vixx >:D

As I said in another comment recently, I’ve only just bought Guitar Hero as I had been avoiding it since I play the real guitar, but I was pleasantly surprised about how fun it was, though I must say I find myself quite tired of it already.
I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of the games unless they have a really amazing playlist, also I simply can’t afford to be buying DLC when I could go and buy a whole new game for around the same price sometimes.
