Not quite yet, but he’s working on it. The roller coaster of a five year long wait for Alan Wake is finally coming to an end. Official reports state that Alan Wake will be released this May 18th in North America, and will be jumping out on May 21st in Europe. The recently made Xbox 360 exclusive has run into continuous delays and push back dates, but recent pre-release trailers and the appearance of collector’s addition has made these dates official.

This will be Finnish gaming company, Remedy’s first game title since Max Payne 2. Alan Wake promises an immersive atmosphere in a terrifying psychological thriller game. The game is about a writer, Alan Wake, who retreats on a vacation with his wife, Alice. Set in the quaint town of Bright Fall, Alan Wake must venture against a darkness that has swept through the town turning it’s inhabitants into monstrous specters. The enemies only weakness is light, and players must utilize both weapons and environment to take down these ghoulish foes.

The game will be available for pre-order, which will come with a Bright Falls Bonus Pack, which includes Alan Wake Avatar gear, an Xbox 360 theme, and a making-of video. There will be two versions of the game available for pre-order. The regular $60 addition, as well as an $80 Collector’s Edition. This edition will be filled to the brim with extras such as:

-Game disc in box with unique art
-Exclusive in-game audio commentary and hints by Remedy
-”The Alan Wake Files”: A 144-page book that includes a short story written by Alan Wake and compiles the FBI dossiers investigating the events in Bright Falls, WA
-Exclusive audio disc with soundtrack and score
-Game add-on token redeemable on Xbox Live for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack
-Exclusive Xbox disc with special content: Alan Wake Xbox Live Theme and Alan Wake Avatar for Xbox Live

  1. I think that I want this. It certainly *seems* like a game I’d want. But it’s been so long coming – with relatively little information seeping out – that it’s hard to justify a pre-order when I don’t have a scooby-doo if it’s going to be a good game or not.

      Yeah, I saw a few trailers and it looked intriguing. But I’m really torn about this game and would have to see more. I only just heard about it this month, so I obviously am not one of the people who have been waiting for this for so long.

    I’ve been waiting for this game too missy, it seems right up my street. All of the trailers are very cool and I cannot wait to actually play the thing.
