Thanks to all of the devoted and enthusiastic World of Warcraft players who paid $10 to purchase a Pandaren Monk pet, Blizzard has donated $1.1 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Yesterday, February 16th, Blizzard officially handed over the check at a ceremony involving 15 wish children in Irvine, California.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has focused on making the dreams of children with life threatening illness’ come true for over 20 years. The foundation has stretched its reach world wide and has helped over 174,000 children. According to Mike Morhaime, Blizzards CEO and co-founder, the company and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have had a “long relationship”. Morhaime adds, “…we’re proud to support the priceless work they do for children. This donation also reflects the spirit and generosity of our players – their enthusiasm for World of Warcraft and for supporting a good cause made this possible.”

Thanks to gamers’ generosity and Blizzard’s willingness to help charities, more children will have their wish come true. Not to mention the World of Warcraft players did get a pretty cool Pandaren Monk pet.
