Welcome to our weekly Community Q!
Once a week we flip the tables and listen to what you guys have to say . . . rather than sitting back and make you listen to us!
Community Q:: what’s your favourite game of all time? Why? Is it because of the graphics or gameplay, or because it evokes nostalgia? Tell us all about it!
Got an idea for a future Community Q question? Drop us a line and tell us about it!

my favorite game (at the moment) is fallout 3 just because i am a sucker for RPG and shooters
fallout 3 combines those two
don’t forget one of the best way a body reacts to a bullet (bullet to the face, arm explodes)
its a shame the game has giant glitch rate
i’m pretty excited to the las vegas fallout game
Wow, this is really hard >:o
I gave it some thought, though, and I think my favorite game is Okami.
I like it ’cause you have to rebuild this world, and it’s fun but has a kind of urgent message beneath it all. Here she is, a forgotten sun god, and mistaken for being a cohort of evil ’cause she’s a white wolf. And she has to regain her power to fight the ultimate evil. But when she DOES end up at the last boss, he snuffs out her life and the only way Okami was able to continue was with the support and faith of all those that she had helped before. It’s so bittersweet :B
D’oh, why couldn’t this be your favorite ten games?!
Seriously, though, it’s pretty hard. RPGs are my thing, and I’ve played about 60 of them. If I absolutely had to say, then I’d have to go with…
…Suikoden III.
My main reason is that it’s an RPG so unlike other RPGs (even when compared to other games from the series). A brief summary on what the series features: 108 characters that join your cause, heavy political storylines (for the most part), war battles, and Runes – lots of Runes.
I’m a sucker for Old World politics. There are quite a few games that have them – Final Fantasy Tactics is probably the most famous example. But while Square-Enix’s Ivalice Alliance is a more famous example of a series that tries to be political, it falls flat compared to Suikoden. And the reason why is quite simple – Ivalice is all about magic and fantasy, while Suikoden puts fantasy mostly in the background in favor of politics and war. Regarding Suikoden III, it provides three different view points – like a late medieval version of Roshomon – that all come together and unite to fight against one foe. And the punch line is that your foe ends up joining as well, due to a bigger threat. The eventual threat is more fantasy than political, but politics play a big part for most of the game. The storyline as whole feels VERY human, and very real-world.
The gameplay ain’t too shabby, either. Unite attacks, magic, improving your castle, mini-games…it’s a big bundle of fun. And if you get all 108 stars, you unlock a small bonus quest – similar to Born From A Wish from Silent Hill 2 – that lets you view the events from the main villain’s POV (and the biggest thing is that the main villain is a guy who was a good guy in the first two games!).
I don’t usually like assigning numerical values to games, but if I had to, I’d give Suikoden III a 9.5 out of 10.
Sorry for the long post, but I get very carried away when it comes to Suikoden!
Well I have a special place in my heart for Final Fantsy IX. I hadn’t been into games for a few years, discouraged by all the games I seemed to see were FPS in realistic settings/sports games/car racing games which didn’t appeal to me at all.
Then a friend described Kuja to me and I just had to see him for myself, I couldn’t believe a character like that got into a game. So I started playing, it was the first turn based combat game I’d played and I got hooked. It was also the first game I played all the way to the end, I’d never clocked one before that.
Over the past years I have fallen in love with every game type: RPG’s, FPS’s, TPS’s (Third Person Shooters), Sports, Strategy games, you name it I’ve played it half a dozen times.
My most favorite too date is Street Fighter IV (thanks to my co-workers). I’ve never enjoyed any fighting games but I quickly picked up the controls and moves. My favorite character is Abel, but I use Ken for competitive purposes..

See flowchart for Ken.
Right now I’m also enjoying playing the Starcraft 2 BETA… and wow am I impressed! The amount of graphics and design they put into this game is amazing and I’m looking forward to playing this as soon as it’s released. To all you Starcraft fans.. you will not be disappointed.
