Eurogamer Expo 2010 Dates

Eurogamer Expo 2010 Dates

3 Mar, 2010

EurogamerExpo is back. And this time it’s pissed.

No wait, that’s wrong – it’s not pissed at all! It’s AWESOME. So awesome, in fact, it’s back for more, this time in London’s Earl Court this coming October 1st-3rd. Despite selling out all four days last year – two in London and two in Leeds – the expo has no current plans to travel beyond the capital this time. In the latter comments of the post announcing the news on GamesIndustry.biz, Expo Community & Gaming Manager Tom Champion confirms: “It was a really tough call as we had a great time in Leeds but we felt as though we needed a show outside of London to be the equal of the London event. Last year Leeds was half the size of London and was missing several games that London had. This was all out of our control, sadly. As the boss man says, we don’t want to do two Expos if one is the poor cousin of the other. I’m sure we’ll do events outside London in the future, it just wasn’t possible this year. We’re looking forward to stepping up to Earls Court and the focus on one location should make the show a major improvement over last year.”

In addition to giving gamers the chance to try out the latest and greatest titles – which last year included Heavy Rain, Bayonetta and Dante’s Inferno – and the developer sessions, also returning will be the GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair which provides students and graduates the opportunity to meet development and publishing companies.

“Earls Court is another step up for the Eurogamer Expo,” says Rupert Loman, Managing Director of the Eurogamer Network. “Our 2009 event was a sell-out in advance of the show and while our philosophy continues to revolve around sustainable and organic growth, moving to a bigger venue with all the facilities it has to offer allows us to put on a fantastic event for even more gamers.”

David Lilley, Eurogamer Expo Event Director, adds: “In addition to masses of playable games, this year’s Eurogamer Expo will deliver an even wider range of other attractions. It’s our intention to provide a full day’s entertainment to this key group of opinion formers and gaming advocates.”

After last year’s event, which was choc-ful of win and awesomeness, I’ll definitely be there. Will you?

Lame…….. some people can’t afford to visit the most expensive city in the country to go to a games expo, the Leeds event last year was perfect and I couldn’t care less if it was ‘a poor cousin’ to the London show. It’s better than not having an event for the people up north at all.

    • I feel you. In my case, I’ll have to make a 300 mile round trip to go myself. I’m just fortunate that I get a trade ticket and can afford the train fare. :/

  2. I’m (hopefully) going!

Be there or be Square, Circle, Triangle or X!

    • Best. Gamer. Gag. Ever. :D

We should totally have a GGS.com meet up. I thinking that after a loooooooong day of gaming, we have a night on the Thames with several bottles of wine!
