We knew it was coming and Crystal Dynamics haven’t let us down – Lara Croft is back but this time she’s going it alone. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be the first game starring Lara NOT to have Tomb Raider in the title. Another surprise – the game will only be available through digital download.
Crystal Dynamics, part of Square Enix Europe will be developing the game, which will be released in 2010, and they promise that it will a new experience for die-hard Tomb Raider fans.
“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be shown strictly “behind closed doors” at this year’s Game Developers Conference beginning on March 9th.
Crystal Dynamics took over the Tomb Raider series in 2003 and is responsible for Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and, more recently, Tomb Raider Underworld. For more information, visit the official site.
I’ve loved the Tomb Raider series since it’s Playstation days and I’ve really enjoyed the direction that Crystal Dynamics have taken the series. I’m already looking forward to this game’s release!

Oh wow. I can’t wait for the inevitable leakage of news and images come March 9th! I wonder what they mean by this title? And maybe I will now succumb to purchasing PSN so I can download this lol
