At last, after what seems like an eternity of waiting, Star Craft 2: Wings of Liberty Collector’s Edition has been announced. Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s CEO, calls it an “epic” Collector’s Edition. Though, I think the fans who have been waiting for this might call it the “About Time” Collector’s Edition.
The normal edition will sell for the typical $59.99 in stores and online at the Blizzard Store shortly after the game’s release. However, the Collector’s Edition will only be available for purchase in retail stores, and will be exhibiting a flashy $100 price tag. But in all fairness, this Collector’s Edition IS stuffed to the brim with anything and everything a Star Craft collector and fan would want. The Collector’s Edition includes:
* issue #0 of the StarCraft comic
* some Battle.net customization goodies including exclusive decals and portraits and a unique look for the Terran Thor unit
* the 14-track StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD
* an exclusive World of Warcraft non-combat pet based off StarCraft II’s Thor mech units
* a 179-page Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty book
* a special DVD with over an hour of developer interviews, game cinematics with commentary, and more
*a replica of main character Jim Raynor’s dog tag that also functions as a 2GB USB flash drive that is pre-loaded with the original StarCraft and the Brood Wars expansion pack (now that’s cool)
As for the expected release date? Blizzard will continue to taunt you with not knowing when it’s actually going to be release, for the next few weeks. Blizzard claims that the official release date will be announced, “within the coming weeks”. As I said…taunting you.
