Microsoft Responds to new XBox Slim Faults. Badly.

28 Jun, 2010

I bought a brand new 250GB Xbox 360 about four and a half minutes before Microsoft announced the new slim model. Yes, I was pissed, but at least it now looks like those of who smart enough to wait aren’t any less likely than I am to get a RRoD. Or the equivalent thereof, anyhow.

As the original model has historically been about as reliable as a chocolate fireguard, Microsoft have invested a lot of time and energy trying to convince the great gaming public just how stable and reliable the XBox’s latest incarnation is. And whilst, yes, there’s definitely no more RRoDs, let’s be honest here – that’s only because they’ve completely removed the red lights entirely. Red lights or no red lights, the news is still not good: it seems that the new sexy slim model isn’t any less prone to throwing sh!tfits than it’s fatter older sibling.

Microsoft’s response to NowGamer’s probes about the faults? “We couldn’t be more proud of the consoles we are building now, as well as the new Xbox 360. This console is the culmination of years of continuous innovation in design, testing and learning. Today we are confident we are shipping a high quality product.” Which tells us nothing, really, other than Microsoft still dodges awkward hardware questions like a fat kid dodges salad.
