Virgin Gaming has today announced that they will be entering into partnership with Ubisoft Entertainment. The new venture is to make Virgin Gaming the official tournament provider for Ubisoft’s multiplayer console releases. To kick start their new business relationship with a bang, Virgin Gaming will be in charge of the multiplayer for the new Ghost Recon: Future Solider.

The move was announced originally at E3, where Virgin expressed their desire to create a bustling multiplayer tournament paradigm, catering to players of all skill levels with the intent of rewarding prizes to the best players. On the subject of the exciting new venture, Virgin Gaming CEO Rob Segal was quoted as saying:

“Ubisoft is one of the leading video game publishers in the world and we are thrilled to offer our members the opportunity to compete in some of their best multiplayer console games.”

“Virgin Gaming is a unique convergence of social networking, video games and competitive gaming, and we are excited that Ubisoft shares our vision for the platform and its potential.”

Ubisoft president Laurent Detoc was equally as ethusiastic about the news, and in a recent interview with Digital Spy, he announced that there were to be ‘surprises’ in store for fans of their multiplayer franchises. On the subject of his lucrative new deal, he had this to say:

“Ubisoft is thrilled to be partnering with Virgin Gaming on its new venture. We have an exciting lineup of multiplayer titles this year that we believe will be a perfect fit for gamers to play and compete against each other in a tournament setting.”

Ghost Recon: Future Solider has at present no concrete released date, but the current TBA stands at early 2011, available on 360, PS3 and PC. A beta version of the game is also available for preview when you purchase Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction.
