Though a date has yet to be cofirmed, the developer is promising major updates ‘soon’; as to when we can expect more concrete details of the trial version. The original game sold approximately 3 million units upon release in 2008, and has received regular updates and downloadable content followed on by the all-inclusive Game of the Year Edition. As of the beginning of 2010, there allegedly stood 2 million fan made levels available online, with that number constantly increasing.

Media Molecule staff member ‘Spaff’ commented on the forums of LittleBigWorkshop:

“We will have some more news on how we will recruit for this beta soon, but in the mean time i wanted to drop in and say that you will all be in witha chance to get in.
If you are already in the beta group, you will automatically be added tothe LBP2 Beta test.”

Upon the launch of Sony’s Playstation Plus premium serives, the original Little Big Planet was offered as complimentary gift to subscribers. The service boasted access to exclusive previews and beta content in their manifesto, so it is entirely possible that the Little Big Planet 2 beta will be an exclusive to subscribers of Playstation Plus, though this also has yet to be confirmed.
