With Square Exix’s new title “Front Mission Evolved” only one month away, they have decided to release the only Front Mission title ever released in Europe via the Playstation Network. This is the perfect opportunity for those who missed on the titles original PS1 title to get a copy of the game, as well as those who feel in the mood for a bit of nostalgia.
“With the forthcoming release of Front Mission Evolved, the Front Mission series is back with a bang. Before the evolution of the series, we think it’s the perfect time to revisit a previous classic installment with Front Mission 3. We’re very pleased to be able to bring this compelling title to the PlayStation Network,” said Larry Sparks, Vice President of Brands at Square Enix Europe.
Front Mission 3 was the first title of the Front Mission series to reach a Western audience, and was released by Square in Europe in August 2000. The title is a turn-based strategy RPG in which you control a team of robots in battle. The robots are customisable and can be edited or assembled from scratch, while battle takes place on a grid, which is a common feature of the genre.
Its sequel, Front Mission 4, was released in North America but Europe was missed. Front Mission 5 on the other hand was never released outside Japan, which is often blamed on the poor sales of the forth title. Front Mission 3 received good reviews when it was released and is often called the best game in the series.
At this stage, the PSN release date of the game is unannounced, as is the price. Front Mission Evolved is due for release on September 24, 2010.
If the price is right, I certainly plan to pick this up for my PSP. Did you play Front Mission 3 when it was originally released, and do you plan to download the title again on its release? Do any newcomers plan to get the title?
