InstantJam, guitar hero with your own MP3s

InstantJam, guitar hero with your own MP3s

29 Aug, 2010

InstantJam is set to launch within weeks on one of the largest gaming platforms on the planet, Facebook. This RockBand / Guitar Hero clone has one trick that might just strike a chord (sigh….) with players, and thats its ability to use your own MP3 collection.

By just providing the note overlay for your tracks, and thousands are promised at launch, they get around the sticky problem of licensing. You just let it scan your mp3 library and it will match up what songs they have note tracks for, choose your difficulty and play using the ASDFG keys.

Of course there is money to be had in music games, and InstantAction the group behind this are hoping you will want to spruce up and customise your experience purchasing guitars and videos. These treats can also be gifted to others.

Based on a social gaming platform means its straight forward to challenge your friends to beat your score. This looks like a highly polished game but whether people will want their eclectic music collection being scanned by a Facebook app is down the trust that providers like InstantAction tend to only get one chance in.
