The release of undead slaughter-fest prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero was thrown into uncertainty this weekend with a press release from Capcom Japan stating that the downloadable episode has been delayed until further notice. However, they later confirmed that other regions would not be affected and Case Zero has today appeared on the Xbox Live Arcade in Europe and North America.
Bridging the gap between the first Dead Rising and its sequel, Case Zero is set three years before the events of Dead Rising 2 and stars main protagonist Chuck Greene and his daughter Katey fending off a legion of flesh-hungry zombies in the usually-quiet town of Still Creek. Upon completion of the trial episode, which provides around two to three hours of gameplay, any experience, combo cards and clothing you collect can be carried over to the main game.
Dead Rising 2 is released in Europe on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 24th, with a PC version following on the 28th. Case Zero is an Xbox-exclusive download and is available now for 400 Microsoft Points.

It’s unfortunate that Europe has to wait that long. I almost died having to wait 8 hours while I was at work today to get home and download it myself.
