Crysis 2 Multiplayer – First Impressions

Crysis 2 Multiplayer – First Impressions

6 Sep, 2010

At Gamescom, last month, we were given the opportunity to take a closer look at Crysis 2‘s multiplayer. Still buzzing from getting another free t-shirt and being pulled out of the queue by EA staff (who had spotted our press passes) and ushered to the front, we picked up our Xbox controllers and got to work.

Developed by Crytek, Crysis 2 is a first person shooter set in a New York under attack from an alien species. You are wearing a nanosuit that grants you special abilities such as stealth or armour. The suit also gives your character extra agility than you would normally get with other first person shooters.

Obviously, because of being limited to one game, there wasn’t a lot of opportunity to have a good nose around (not unless you want to get shot while you’re studying the scenery) so I just opted to run-and-gun my way through the match. This allowed me to get a look at some of the sights. The map we played wasn’t large but it was multi-leveled, giving players plenty of places to snipe from, camp at or simply hide (heh).

The game was fast-paced and fun – the added abilities of the nanosuit making it more so. I can assure you, this game will be making it on to my MUST-PLAY list.

Check out the trailer for the Crysis 2 multiplayer below. No, that’s not me playing (sigh).

Crysis 2 is due for release on March 25th, 2011 (22nd in North America) and will be available on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
