LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) is now free to play. By visiting the official site you can download the client and play for free with purchasable upgrades available in-game.
The upgrades and expanded packs are not available for free members however the whole of the original game is yours to play without any risk – except perhaps for your ISP download limit just be aware of in-game streaming downloading while you are playing MMOs.
I thought this happened a while ago; perhaps I’d just heard it was coming. I have online friends who have/do play it, but just never felt interested in trying it out myself. Maybe I will now!
