The World’s First Baby Peripheral!… Yes, we’re serious.

The World’s First Baby Peripheral!… Yes, we’re serious.

I remember way back in high school there was a class available in senior year called Parenting. I never did take this class, but from those I knew who took it, you were given this “life-like” baby doll which you had to take home and care for. There was a little key so that when the doll cried, you had to put it in it and feed it, change it, etc.

Well now children of all ages will soon be able to do something similar thanks to Cooking Mama World: Babysitting. The game will teach you to be the best babysitter in the world by giving you an actual hand-stitched doll in which you place a Wiimote directly into its back and tada, it’s alive!

Sort of frightening, really.

The game will show you how to feed your baby, change its diapers, keep it happy, and even help it learn to walk. An on-screen meter will show the babies happiness and how well you are taking care of it. There will also be co-op to see who’s the best babysitter between you and a friend, as the two of you “battle it out hardcore” to impress Mama with your skills.

Announced alongside, Cooking Mama World: Hobbies & Fun, will be heading to the DS at the same time. Unlike teaching you to be a mother… sorry, I mean babysitter, this game will have you doing much more fun Gran-like things like making pottery, patchwork quilts, and origami. Sounds like it’ll make a quite pleasant night in.

You can expect to see both these games on the shelf on November 12th.

505 GAMES REVEALS A NEW MAMA TITLE EACH FOR NINTENDO WII AND DS

Milton Keynes, UK – 15/09/10 – Global videogames publisher 505 Games has today announced the latest new arrivals in the celebrated Cooking Mama series. Cooking Mama World: Babysitting Mama for Nintendo Wii and Cooking Mama World: Hobbies & Fun for Nintendo DS will both offer fans of the eponymous ‘Mama’ another two adventures into her world of domestic bliss when they are both released on 12th November 2010.

Cooking Mama World: Babysitting Mama is the first videogame to come bundled with a life-sized baby doll peripheral designed exclusively by Cooking Mama Limited. Wii owners will place the Wii RemoteTM into a secure pouch in the doll’s back to bring it to life! Each doll is hand stitched, making no two babies exactly the same.

Playing along with Mama, players will have to follow instructions to carry out all the duties of a diligent baby sitter, including feeding your baby food, playing with toy blocks, changing nappies and helping baby take its first steps. The on-screen baby meter will display baby’s mood and show how well it is being cared for by giggling and smiling all the way down to crying. Over fifty different challenges are available which can also be tackled in multiplayer mode, allowing two babysitters to go head to head to see who has the best handle on caring for little ones under Mama’s watchful eye.

Cooking Mama World: Hobbies & Fun will give DS owners the chance to try their hand a variety of home crafting activities such as pottery, woodwork, jewellery design, origami and many more. Following Mama’s careful instructions, players will be shown how to create a selection of gadgets and trinkets, including a bird box, necklace, kaleidoscope, cushions and patchwork quilts.

“The Cooking Mama games have been an unprecedented success for us as a company and our fans are always keen to see what we have come up with next,” commented Juliette Fielder, Senior Product Manager, 505 Games. “The direction we’ve taken with the series will give gamers a new take on Mama, particularly as Babysitting Mama will provide the world’s first baby peripheral!”

Both Cooking Mama World: Babysitting Mama and Cooking Mama World: Hobbies & Fun will be published by 505 Games on 12th November, for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS respectively.
