With only two days left until the Japanese release of Pokemon Black and White, images of all 150+ Pokemon have leaked at Serebii.net. Stats for each Pokemon are currently being compiled as the data comes in. Without spoiling too much, I thought I would post a handful of my favorites so far. I’m glad there are some strong bug types this time around. On average, the base stats for bug Pokemon are usually vastly underpowered compared to other types. There are also some cool combination Pokemon. For instance, there’s an electric bug spider Pokemon, as well as an awesome dragon ice Pokemon. Overall, these guys look a lot better than the Diamond and Pearl generation.
Pokemon Black and White is due out in America and Europe Spring 2011 and will include many new features, including a seasonal system based on your DS’ internal clock. Some Pokemon’s appearances are affected by the changes in season. It has also been confirmed that the Isshu region is inspired by New York City. Triple battles are also being introduced, giving battles a new level of depth. For seasoned Pokemon fans, Black and White is shaping up to be a true fan service. It’s nice to know that GameFreak understand their core audience is getting older. Hopefully the story is more advanced than having you fetch badges and fight the Elite Four.
Oooh, I do find the seasonal system quite exciting. I cannot wait for this! I find it strange that I’ve yet to become bored of Pokemon, but I also hope that they make the new black/white a bit more advanced.
