Team17 announce Alien Breed sequel

20 Sep, 2010

Following the success of their explosive re-imagining of the classic Atari series Alien Breed: Evolution and updated re-release Impact, UK developer Team17 have confirmed a release date for its successor, Alien Breed 2: Assault, coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and Steam later this week.

Team17′s Head of Design John Dennis described the game in a press release sent out today.

“As the second adventure in the Alien Breed trilogy, we’re really happy with how much Assault adds to an already strong gameplay formula.

We’ve got some awesomely destructive new weapons to purchase and upgrade, two monstrous new boss battles, and some really exciting set-pieces.

Add to this our brand-new Survivor Mode, which pits players against relentless waves of enemies in either single-player or two-player co-op, and the stress-inducing, claustrophobic experience of moving ever deeper into a space station infested with blood-thirsty aliens, and you get a very strong offering that we hope will please both Alien Breed fans and players new to the game alike.”

Other new additions include the Webber, a nasty new enemy-type, plus a range of unlockable avatar awards. Alien Breed 2: Assault lands on the Xbox Live Arcade and Steam September 22nd. For now you can whet your whistle with the official trailer.

No PSN release date has been confirmed as of yet.
