I’m sure that plenty of people who would like to get fit with Mel B. No, not in that way!
Mel B herself attended the exclusive promotional demo for the new game, “Get Fit with Mel B”. The upcoming 360, PS3 and Wii title is to be published next month via Black Bean Games, and has been developed by Lightning Fish studios, who have a past history with fitness titles. The fitness plan itself has been developed by gym chain Fitness First, which means that there is some solid exercise experience there.
The game will make use of the Playstation Eye and Move on its PS3 release, will use Kinect for its 360 release, and will use the standard Wii controller for its Wii release. There will also be a range of fitness accessories released around the games’ launch, if you are that way inclined.
The game will allow you to train alongside Mel as your fitness instructor, as you carry out the workouts controller free, if you choose to use the Playstation Eye or the Kinect camera. You will be provided with real time feedback on how you are performing the actions, which will help you improve the effectiveness of your workout. There are 199 tailored exercise to help you get an effective workout for whatever your aims are. The game also features a nutritional program with 140 recipes to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
At the event, Mel B said that “It’s nice to be here today to present Black Bean’s videogame and I’m happy to be the protagonist. I believe that “Get Fit With Mel B” definitely delivers to everybody a new and simple way to train and keep fit!”. I just hope it makes me really really really wanna zigazig ha.
More information on the game is available at the game’s official website.

Me and Andy were totally distracted by the terribly unfortunate names of the studio and developer!
Unfortunately it seems like this type of game is going to be all the Kinect especially, and to some extent the Move will be good for after the initial novelty has worn off. I personally see that it could end up a lot like the wave of people who bought Wii’s just to have the Wii Fit. Still it’s very early days and someone may yet do something very interesting with both pieces of tech.
Black bean and lightning fish stir fry = yum!
But yes, at this stage it does seem Kinect is becoming the home for fitness and dance games. Yet, there is still time to get some more varied titles out there for both yet.
