Play Dress-up with Dead Rising 2 DLC

7 Oct, 2010

I bet you thought you were pretty special when you picked up your pre-ordered copy of Dead Rising 2 and snagged yourself an exclusive DLC costume for Chuck that not only looked cool – but added some pretty neat bonus stats. I know I’ve had a lot of fun with my Ninja-Chuck running around with a katana or broadsword.

When the game released, the first thing I noticed was that there were patches you could download – in the case that you played online co-op with a friend, you needed the patch in order to see their costume. The second I saw ‘psychopath theme’ – I knew I wanted it. Well, if you felt the same way – you’ll be able to pick up the packs very soon on both the XBLA and PSN (see the description below for the dates!)

No word on the cost yet from Capcom, but we’ll keep you posted.

Psychopath Theme Pack (Oct. 12, 2010)
Psycho Chuck will be a lot tougher to kill and will see an added bonus when using ‘gruesome’ weapons including chainsaws, cleavers, axes and other horror movie type weapons.

Soldier of Fortune Theme Pack (Oct. 19, 2010)
Soldier Chuck will experience double ammo, increased shooting accuracy, and even better accuracy when it comes to headshots. You’ll also see a bonus special attack when using automatic weapons.

Sports Theme Pack (Oct. 26, 2010)
Sport Chuck’s damage will increase with sports-themed weapons. Chuck also has a new charge/tackle attack. And as an added bonus, Chuck will also earn more cash from gambling, gain more health while eating and drinking (especially alcoholic drinks, which won’t result in your Chuck throwing up.)

Ninja Theme Pack (Nov. 2, 2010)
Zombies will have a tougher time noticing Chuck in his Ninja outfit, making it a breeze to get by large crowds of the undead. His damage is also increased with sword-type weapons that also have new special attacks. With an increased throwing speed, stackable items and throwing items (nails, plates, gems, etc.) will also do more damage.

  1. Oooooh, can’t wait! It sounds to me a lot like the DLC for Dead Space, which made the game a lot easier to play, so I’m kinda glad I’ve finished this and gotten to level 50 already. Still, the Ninja and Psychopath outfits sound awesome!

I am rather disappointed with Dead Rising 2. The story was too predictable, they made the time deadlines even tougher with secret unlisted missions, plus all the cool and useful skills like Hammer Throw have been removed or replaced with failures like Front Kick. Not to mention that co-op mode is glitchier than an abused SNES game. Surely Capcom should focus on fixing what already exists instead of trying to soften the blow with some DLC?
