Community Q:: there’s a gun at your head. Someone’s broken into your home and is DEMANDING that you tell them which is best – the 360 or the PS3. So what’s your answer going to be? Forced into a decision, which console gets your vote – and why?

As much as it pains me to say it after being a Sony fangirl for so many years, overall, the Xbox 360 would be my console of choice. If you’d asked me 6 months ago, I would’ve said PS3.
Why? I think for me it’s the online aspect. The party chat is cool and, more importantly, there are people online on my friends list when I am! Sure, you’ve got to pay for it but it hardly breaks the bank.
For me it has to be the PS3 though I’ve only recently started playing 360. I’m not much of an online gamer so having to pay for the little I use it put me right off!
The blu-ray player is a huge added bonus!
It’s not without it problems though. I’ve had the yellow light of death and massive problems with Fallout 3 freezing if I play for longer than 3 hours at a time. I love it so much I have 2 in my house!
360 all the way! The back catalogue of PS3 games can’t even begin to compare to the quality titles available for 360, multi-format titles are more often than not superior on 360 and as far as the online service goes, you get what you pay for, which on PS3 is ‘not a lot’, especially in Europe.
I have to agree with Sarah! I was a die hard Playstation fan for years and years, and I still have to supress a sense of betrayal and shame when I say I actually prefer my Xbox. It’s for no other reason than I have discovered so many wonderful games on it. It’s jam packed with brilliant exclusives and has an unbeatable back catalogue.
I would still be stood here defending the PS3 to hills, had there been a decent exclusive since Heavy Rain. That was the last thing I bought on PS3!
Chiming in a bit late here but as an owner of both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 I’d have to say my most used console is the 360.
The online experience wins it for me also but not just for the good service, most of my friends also own an Xbox so it makes sense to be where everyone else is in order to play together online.
I tend to play my PS3 for singleplayer games (Uncharted 1 and 2) and have yet to play a decent game online with that machine.
