I love video games. I love Halloween. I especially love video games about Halloween, particularly when aforementioned game are stuffed full of humour, family-friendly and hail from the wonderful imagination of Double Fine studios.
Costume Quest – a casual “rollicking” Adventure/Role-Playing game that takes place on Halloween night and thrusts a peaceful mid-American neighbourhood into monster-infested suburbia – is developed by Double Fine’s project lead, Tasha Harris. The premise seems simple enough: armed with only their trick-or-treat costumes and their frighteningly quick wits, a group of kids are tasked with eliminating the spooky gatecrashes by “door-to-door collecting candy, points, cards, battle stamps and quest assignments”. After preparation for Combat Mode, they then transform into superpower-charged versions of their costumes. AWESOME.
“We are thrilled to add Costume Quest to our downloadable games portfolio, said Martin Good, Executive Vice President, THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services.” “Costume Quest is a game that represents our focus and determination to deliver quality games across a variety of digital distribution platforms.”
“We are extremely excited here at Double Fine to be releasing our first downloadable game,” added Tim Schafer, founder & CEO of Double Fine Productions. Costume Quest is an awesome start and a great sign of things to come from Double Fine and THQ.”
The first downloadable game from Double Fine, Costume Quest is available now for the rather stiff starting prices of 1200 Microsoft Points / $14.99 on PSN. Is it worth it? We don’t know yet. But you know us – we’ll let you know when we do!
