David Bateson confirms Hitman 5?

25 Oct, 2010

Hitman fans rejoice, because after years of speculation and waiting for a scrap of hope, our favourite slap-head contract killer looks set to return for Hitman 5. Agent 47 voice actor David Bateson has seemingly rather by accident confirmed that a Hitman 5 is very much in the pipes after an interview with The Gaming Liberty.

“I have been overwhelmingly gratified and humbled by the sheer dedication to the Hitman franchise that the fans have expressed.”

“For all the kind things that have been said, I am truly thankful. That kind of dedication and appreciation of the game deserves repayment… with an even more gob smacking instalment in Hitman 5. I don’t envy IO Interactive for the pressure they must be under to deliver. I am utterly convinced they will!”

IO Interactive were quick to rush in with rumor control, responding to Bateson’s comments on their official Twitter page, claiming that while deeply flattering; they were unaware of any such projects under developement involving the actor. Curiously, deliberately or not, they did not state that Hitman 5 was not currently under developement, leaving plenty of room for scope.

It has been a long 4 years since the last installment of the franchise hit the shelves, and fans have waited patiently for Agent 47 to finally get the next-gen treatment he so deserves, and after the generally lacklustre contribution to the market that was ‘Kane and Lynch: Dog Days’, it’s fair to say that IO could really do with making a comeback with a bang! Fingers and toes crossed for further news!
