Here we go again! A mere six weeks after a review code of Bungie’s Halo: Reach was sensationally hacked and released by internet pirates, VentureBeat have reported that Activision’s upcoming blockbuster Call of Duty: Black Ops has leaked in the US.
However Activision, always ones for a drama (and no small amount of publicity) have laughed in the face of Bungie’s banhammer and drafted in private investigation team IP Cybercrime, with further threats of involving the FBI. The majority of users playing pirate copies have been caught with their proverbial pants down through information recorded on their Xbox Live accounts.
IP Cybercrime operatives have met with counterfeit consumers in various locations across the US and report that the meetings have had positive outcomes, with individuals surrendering their illegal copies immediately. Other, less-cooperative fellows, such as those responsible for leaking the title, are now facing a visit from the FBI. VentureBeat also reported that, after a conversation with one particular “wise-ass” pirate who put his foot down, IP Cybercrime got in touch with his mother. That’ll be a smacked bottom then!
Those not so concerned about Call of Duty: Black Ops that they’re willing to risk a fine, imprisonment or the back of their mother’s hand can pick up a legitimate copy of the game when it’s released worldwide on November 9th.

Though I don’t like Activision, maybe this will make Jtaggers think twice before they attempt to ruin Black Ops.
