Xbox 360 Dashboard update released

Xbox 360 Dashboard update released

1 Nov, 2010

We all knew it was coming, but so soon! The Xbox dashboard update was due on November 4th, to tie in with the release of Kinect but users worldwide got a nice surprise today when the update was pushed out early.

The dashboard has been redesigned with a bold, high-contrast colour scheme, updated resolution support for HDMI users, Kinect-specific features including face and voice recognition plus a whole host of other little tweaks and additions. It’s no coincidence that the update has arrived three days earlier than anticipated, following news that over-eager Kinect users that received their units early have experienced a range of issues attributed to the update.

So what do you think of the new dashboard colour scheme? Like the new features? Will you, like me, be tempted to purchase Kinect solely for the purpose of signing into Xbox Live with your face? Leave your comments below!

Can’t say I’m particularly bothered either way! Nice to have a few more details about my account front of house (I hate how hard it can be to find it on PSN!) but otherwise, I can’t say that I have a particularly strong opinion either way. As long as the party chat is a bit stronger, I’m happy!

(Talking of which – we’re all overdue for a Reach/L4D2 night!)
