Black Ops sales plummet 85%

22 Nov, 2010

Treyarch’s smash hit Call of Duty: Black Ops has dipped in sales a whopping 85% in it’s second week, according a report by CVG. The newest installment in the Call of Duty franchise received the highest sales of the series so far, shifting around 7 millions copies worldwide in it’s first days of release on November 9th, and despite this sudden sales drop, has managed to maintain it’s top possition in the All Formats Chart this week.

Sales have remained at their highest on the Xbox 360 which accounted for 54% of the weekly sales, while 40% was attributed to the PS3 version of the game. The Xbox 360 version has so far been the strongest selling edition of Black Ops with a split of 54/41 in sales figures in the 360s favour last week.

CVG reports that while the game has for now secured the top spot in this weeks charts, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was a mere 63,000 units behind after it’s release on Friday November 19th. Brotherhood has been the biggest launch of the franchise so far and was met with an overall very possitive critical reception.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is available now on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Assassin’s Creed is also available now as of Friday on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
