Mark Wahlberg has confirmed, in an interview with MTV News, that he will be playing the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie. Wahlberg is no stranger to game-to-movie adaptations, having played Max Payne in the movie of the same name, back in 2008.
The adaptation of Naughty Dog’s PS3 exclusive hit series is being written and directed by David O. Russell. Hoping to start filming this coming summer,
“David is writing [the script] now, and David is one of the best writer-directors I’ve ever worked with,” Wahlberg said. “And the idea that he has is just insane. It’s not going to be the watered-down version; that’s for sure.”
Wahlberg went on to reveal some other potential casting for the project: Robert de Niro as Drake’s father and Joe Pesci as Drake’s uncle.
Considering we have seen neither of those characters in Drake’s Fortune or Among Thieves, I think it’s safe to say that that the movie will be very loosely based on the games.

They probably won’t be recreations of the games, but a story based on the game characters. I’m fine with that.
