10 minute finish time establishes new Portal record

Speed runs of games have always been a way of showing just how much you know your stuff! The most elite Demi-God-like players showing the ultimate test of worth outside of knocking out a few rounds in a multiplayer arena. But this dear readers will probably be enough to make the even the most seasoned players head spin with absolute astonishment. Portal, the cult favourite puzzler from Valve games has been beaten in a record 10 minutes, or just under to be precise. The game infamous for it’s mind bending puzzles that will bring first time players to their knees, squeaking like a lab rat amongst GLaDOS’s string of ‘scientific tests’ is certainly not a game I would ever attempt to entertain a speed run of, as I value what is left of my ever decreasing hair colour.

Portal player Transgenic86 makes clever and freakishly quick use of many of the games main glitches, allowing him to bolt through the test chambers at a rate that leaves me in a state of deep admiration, peppered with envy. Surely such a feat would be beyond the realms of human patience, but it seems not. In the video description, Transgentic86 explains exactly how he was able to pull off this small miracle of gaming, and provides links to tutorials he has created so that you might come one step closer to be an Aperture Science Guru.

This speedrun uses a majority of the glitches in the game. Unfortunately, it does not use the acute angle glitch, which might be the most useful glitch in the game, if used correctly.

As we the fans wait anxiously for Portal 2 to be released early next year after another delay and chow down on the side salad of inadequacy that this video shoves in our face, perhaps the sequel doesn't feel so far away when we realise just how much catching up on the original game we have to do! I take my hat off you Transgentic86, you are an excellent test subject!

My brain will be baked, and then there will be cake.
