Regular readers of GGS may get the distinct impression that a fair few of us rather like Mass Effect. This is not entirely inaccurate.
In fact, I myself like it so much that, following my recent 1255/1255 achievement point triumph over the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2, I’m now preparing to do it all again on the PlayStation 3 version when it’s released next month. For the time being, we’ll soon get to see just how well the PS3 edition is going to hold up when the demo hits the PlayStation Store next week.
Not only will PlayStation 3 users get a Game of the Year Edition of Mass Effect 2, packed with Kasumi’s Stolen Memory, Lair of the Shadow Broker and all other previously-released DLC, in the absence of a PS3 release of the original Mass Effect they’ll also get an interactive comic-book section allowing them to bridge the gap and make changes to the game’s storyline that an imported save of the first game would’ve normally made.
And that’s not all. Bioware have been working hard to ensure the PlayStation 3 version is graphically and technically equal, if not superior to the Xbox 360 version. A nicely updated version of my ‘Game of 2010′ will be just the thing to satiate me until the series climax, Mass Effect 3, is released in late 2011. Mass Effect 2 will be released for PlayStation 3 on January 21st.

I have a friend who only has a PS3 who I will ensure downloads this when it is released. Not sure he will bite without playing ME1 though.
