Creators of the Western free-roam epic Red Dead Redemption have declined the opportunity for their game to be considered for a BAFTA Award next year. According to report by CVG, Rockstar have decided against entering Red Dead for BAFTA consideration which could have earned the game prestige in catagories such as Best Game, Artistic Achievement, Gameplay and Story.
The good people of CVG decided to do their own bit of detective work, and contacted the spokesman for the institution who confirmed that Red Dead Redemption did qualify for consideration, but Rockstar Game had decided not to give their consent to enter the game for reasons undisclosed.
The main bulk of the BAFTA awards will be dished out in 2011, however a first round will take place in the remainder of 2010 in order to create a shortlist of games to run for the big cheese. The main ceremony is due to take place in March 2011 in London, with sponsorship from leading UK retailer GAME.
Red Dead Redemption recently took the prize at the VGAs this year for ‘The Game of the Year 2010′, winning against some of this years biggest titles, such as Halo: Reach, Mass Effect 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. The title is also enjoying a new boost in sales since the release of ‘Undead Nightmares’, a stand alone disc featuring all available DLC so far.
