Great Scott! We’re Going Back to the Future this week

21 Dec, 2010

Just in case we hadn’t quite got you excited enough about Back to the Future: The Game, this is a gentle reminder that Telltale’s latest release hits virtual shelves for your home computer tomorrow.

Know what’s impressed me most to date about the buzz and hype? It’s been the wholehearted backing from the original film team, including co-creator and co-writer Bob Gale.

“Telltale’s Back to the Future game is the first videogame in the space-time continuum to be truly worthy of being called ‘Back to the Future’”, said Gale. “This new adventure of Marty McFly and Doc Brown is true to the spirit of the movies and I couldn’t be happier about the great working relationship I’ve developed with the team at Telltale. Via the game, the player gets to explore and experience more about the history of our characters and Hill Valley… along with some very interesting alternate time lines. It’s a game for people who loved the movies, made by people who loved the movies.”

It’s praise not lost on Telltale. Dan Connors, Telltake Games’ CEO added: “It’s a testament to the commitment and creative energy of our team that Telltale can deliver high-quality gaming experiences with such a timely schedule [...] And what a great way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of this all time great franchise.”

Those who pre-order the first episode It’s About Time before tomorrow’s release will also receive the excellent game Puzzle Agent free with their order. But more importantly than that, Telltale is also donating $1 of every pre-order to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation – a worthy and relevant cause indeed.

Oh, did you want to play on your iPad or PS3? Bummer. It’s okay though – sit tight just a little bit longer as the game’s set to launch on those platforms in early 2011. (Of course, if any of us owned a real time-traveling delorean wouldn’t have to wait it out; we’d just hit 88.8mph and be there … )
