Out Of The Traps: Greyhound Manager 2

Out Of The Traps: Greyhound Manager 2

Strategic Designs, Ltd. – the UK developer, responsible for the long running PC horse racing strategy game series ‘Starters Orders’ (now on its fourth incarnation), has today announced the release of its newest Greyhound racing/management simulator game, Greyhound Manager 2.

Now, if there’s something you should know about me, it’s that I am a very proud owner of an ex-racing Greyhound. Just watching my boy reach speeds that I myself have only ever experienced whilst a passenger in a car, courtesy of his purpose-built body and double-suspension gallop, never fails to make my heart race and my body flush with adrenaline.

Trust me when I tell you that is nothing on this Earth quite like watching a Greyhound belt past you at break-neck speed, their graceful body appearing to almost swim across the earth, their muscular shoulder rippling as they power past.

To see a Greyhound at full gallop, in my humble opinion, is to witness the 8th Wonder of the World.

Although the graphics afforded by Greyhound Manager 2, do not quite induce the thrill and wonder I described above when viewing the real thing, what Strategic Designs have done is create what they describe as “the most accurate and realistic greyhound racing management game available”.

True to the sport, the races include bumped, impeded and blocked dogs and accurate betting with realistic and changing odds. The race calendar are said to be realistic with variable weather effects and both day and evening racing. The game boasts thousands of ‘hounds and depicts twenty-eight UK greyhound circuits.

Check out the trailer and the screenshots below for both race scenes and examples of the management screens and detailed racecards.

Greyhound Manager 2 is available for the PC (£19.99) from or the Apple iPad (£6.49) via Apple’s App Store for the price of £6.49 or equivalent. You can “Try Before You Buy” and download the FREE DEMO, here.
