They say if you wish for something hard enough it will come true. To which most of us say “Pah, bollocks!”. However, in this case a miracle has truly occurred, as Joystiq report today that a modern-day remake of Bungie’s original masterpiece, Halo: Combat Evolved, IS in production.
Controversially, Bungie are not at the helm; that honor belongs to Saber Interactive, the team behind TimeShift and forthcoming third-person shooter Inversion. Joystiq’s sources have suggested that the game will be a full-scale high-definition remake, featuring stereoscopic 3D, rather than a quick spit-and-polish job on the 2001 original.
Even better, for those that missed out on Halo: CE’s online multiplayer, only featured in the PC version, the update will reportedly feature online co-op play and the fierce competitive multiplayer the series is now famed for. Joystiq allude to the remake coinciding with Halo’s 10th anniversary – that’s November 15th, 2011. Watch this space; more information as and when we get it!
