HD classics coming to Xbox 360?

High-defintion updates of the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia games could be heading to an Xbox 360 near you. An odd decision, perhaps, considering the SC and PoP back catalogue is already fully playable via the wonders of Xbox backwards compatibility.

However, Eurogamer have spotted that US classification board the ESRB have also rated the games for Xbox 360. With the average HD classic clocking in at the best part of 3GB, it’s unlikely any Xbox version would take the form of a DVD disc. Could the Xbox Live Arcade be about to get an injection of glossy last-gen goodness? Watch this space.

The Prince of Persia Trilogy is available now, exclusively for PlayStation 3, on disc or via the PlayStation Store. The Splinter Cell Trilogy is out March 22nd in the US, or April 1st in Europe.
