Infinity Ward have announced the release of a (much needed, I’m sure you’ll agree) security patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which will release on all platforms.
The PS3′s Modern Warfare 2 took a considerable hit after news hit last month that hacker, George “GeoHot” Hotz released his PS3 jailbreak code on the internet, leaving gamers with the risk of losing all their stats if placed onto a hacked server.
At the time, Infinity Ward‘s Robert Bowling had this to say: “Games rely on the security of the encryption on the platforms they’re played on. Unless the security exploit itself is resolved on the platform … updates to the game through patches will not resolve this problem.”
So what’s this security patch for then?
Shortly after the statement above, Bowling announced that Infinity Ward was indeed working on a security patch in the hope of “preventing hackers from affecting legitimate players” and “addressing users who have already been affected.”
The patch will also fix the “small geo exploit on the map Fuel” which allows players to get inside a rock on the outskirts of the map.
The patch will be released for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
