OXM: “One of the best games ever made” to be “reborn on Xbox 360″

16 Feb, 2011

This month’s Official Xbox Magazine’s back page teases a forthcoming remake of an unknown triple-A title is gearing up for a glorious reveal in their April issue.

Unfortunately, they’ve jumped the gun ever-so-slightly as the game’s publisher has pushed the announcement back a month. Editor John Hicks has since told CVG that due to the unforseen delays, the unveiling is “very unlikely to appear in the magazine for the forseeable future”.

However, the mystery surrounding the reveal has got Xbox users very excited. Hicks clarified that the announcement is not tied into the rumoured remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, nor is it even necessarily a previous Xbox-exclusive, but he also confirmed that a razor-sharp CVG reader had already correctly guessed the identity of the top-secret release.

The artwork on the page is thought to be a clue. Guesses so far include Shenmue, Final Fantasy VII, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, Elite, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark and Rainbow Six.

  1. This sounds exciting in a sucky “I hate suspense” sort of way. I’m hoping for GoldenEye since they already have Perfect Dark available in the arcade – and it rocks if you haven’t purchased it yet.

I would be very happy if it was Shenmue or Jade Empire, but we’ll have to see!
