Modern Warfare 3 to be revealed next week?
It is news that will cause shockwaves of trouser-wetting excitement around the masses in the gaming community. The long regarded Rolls Royce of First-Person Shooters is potentially about to have it’s third installment unleashed on the world- of course, it’s Modern Warfare 3. The news is likely to come as a huge relief to fans who doubted the game would ever come into fruition following the departure of Infinity Ward heavyweights Vince Zampella and Jason West, but the clues are there and the anticipation is snowballing.
Activision have allegedly sent out a teasingly clue to the offices of That Video Game Blog in the form of replica military dog tags etched with the details of Modern Warfare 2 key character General Shepard, with whom we last saw engaged in a bloody scuffle with Captain Price and Soap. The tags were also said to display the phrase ‘End the War’, implicit that Modern Warfare will indeed come full circle with a trilogy, and conclude with this chapter.
A promotional teaser site FindMakarov.com sports a simple clock, counting down to a 4 or so days from now deadline that will coincide with the 2011 Games Developement Conference next week. The eagle-eyed journalists over at Digital Spy have managed to snap a caption that clearly shows General Shepard for a brief moment in amongst all the very stylish flash. It’s predecessor, the hugely successful Modern Warfare 2 was announced in similar fashion at the same conference back in 2009.
