Very early snippets of casting information are beginning to emerge for the sequel to the 2006 film adaptation of Konami’s superb survival horror franchise Silent Hill, along with the very first promotional shot of its familiar-looking protagonist.
That would be one Miss Heather Mason, Silent Hill 3′s leading lady. Australian actress Adelaide Clemens has been cast in the role of Heather, having previously starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. British actor Kit Harington has also been cast in an as-yet unknown role. Harington is currently working on HBO series Game of Thrones.
The film will be produced in 3D, by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody, the pair behind the 3D version of Resident Evil: Afterlife, as well as Resident Evil: Apocalypse and the original Silent Hill movie. Michael J. Bassett is writing and directing the sequel, due to begin filming later this year.
Speaking about the film in a press release sent out today, Hadida and Carmody said, “We are all excited to have the Silent Hill team reunited in Toronto. With Michael at the helm, we will be building on the first film and taking Silent Hill into new territory with an exciting storyline and visuals that should grab both new audiences and fans of the Silent Hill franchise.”
“Adelaide is breaking out of the indie world with commercial features such as X-Men and the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. She and Kit are emerging young talent, and their chemistry and dynamics make them a brilliant addition to the Silent Hill team.”
As previously rumoured, Revelation is based on the events of Silent Hill 3. Heather, suffering from horrifying nightmares, makes the journey to the malevolent mining town of Silent Hill to investigate her father’s disappearance. There, she will discover her true identity and face the dark forces that have plagued her from the shadows since her birth.
The first Silent Hill film starred Radha Mitchell as Rose Da Silva, alongside Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger and Jodelle Ferland.

Awesome stuff. I can’t wait! Although I wish everyone would drop the whole 3D gimmick now. It’s getting old (again).
I hope this film explains the ending of the first film a bit more; I mean, it has to right? They are in different realities so I’m interested to see where they go with that.
Good article too! ^.^
Ahhh im super excited!! the first movie was really good:) but your right toby, lets just hope they dont sacrafice story for cheezy 3D visuals.
Am I the only one who’s still not seen a film or game in 3D? I’m frightened! I think it’ll make me want to spew…! xD
it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache :P
Oh dear, that doesn’t fill me with confidence. From what I can gather there won’t be a 2D alternative either, like they did with Afterlife. :(
You’re not missing out Andy. The last films I saw in 3D were The Final Destination, which was terrible, and Saw 3D which was okay but the 3D just wasn’t necessary. As for 3D games, I managed to play Killzone 3 and GT5 in 3D at Eurogamer last year, both looked okay but the 3D for console games just hasn’t been perfected yet.
