The Darkness 2, A sneaky insight.

Attention fans of The Darkness! The second game is on the horizon and finally some more info on this exciting new title has popped up from the hole it was hiding in. Here’s the skinny.

The game takes place two years after the first game and follows Jackie, who is now a Mob boss – I’m so proud *sniff*
Anyways, the story begins with Jackie being crucified by some shady fool who wants to sup the Darkness power from Jackie and keep it for himself. A wierd way to start? Kind of, but it is following a Scorcese type plot structure where the end comes first and you play flashbacks to see what lead to this event. Think of it like the campaign of “Call of Duty: Black Ops” only with less “Tango down” and more “HOLY SH** WHAT THE FU** IS THAT THING ON HIS BA-*dead*”

Gameplay wise, it’s safe to say that many new features have been added such as the ability to use 4 guns at once, two guns in the hand is worth another two in the clutches of a tentacle. Also we have some horrible new execution styles like where your tentacle wraps around an enemy and bursts through his chest Ridley Scott style, and don’t forget the ability to grab an enemy by both legs and rip him in two… Now that sounds like something we are going to hear about in the Daily Mail as this year’s “No Russian“, I cannot wait.

Oh another thing, the first game was made by Starbreeze Studios, however this new installment is made by Digital Extremes, the makers of Bioshock 2‘s multiplayer and Dark Sector (which I thought was a pretty decent game).

So that’s our “so far” look at the Darkness 2 and it looks like it’s shaping up to be a well deserved sequel to, in my opinion, one of the best games released on the next gen consoles. We will keep you informed on more updates.
