Saint’s Row: The Third details
Around Christmas of 2011 we finally get our hands on the third Saint’s Row game. The game titled “Saint’s Row: The Third” has a more futuristic feel and follows the Saints after they have become much bigger than just a street gang.
“Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on.”
Seeing as you play as the head of the Saints in this game I look forward to seeing what this change of role will do to the missions because surely there will be no more taxi missions, pizza delivering or throwing yourself in front of cars for money… or will there?
Weapons will be fully customizable and to keep things exciting, you also have the option of Laser targetting systems for your own personal helicopter gunner to come help. You have a gun that lets you hack into other peoples vehicles leaving them at your mercy and diverting all the blame onto the innocent driver as he plows through a crowd of cops. Should be fun!
The competitive multiplayer is gone, Volition are focussing more on making the single player and co-op game modes the priority because people seemed to enjoy them a hell of a lot more. I did, I don’t think I ever played the multiplayer for more than 5 minutes.
You know how the storylines of each gang kind of felt completely seperate from one another in the other games? Well now they are much more intertwined with eachother. There are also brand new gangs for you to wipe out, Morning Star, Luchadores, and the Deckers, ahh do they not know it is their destiny to perish?
Two more things! The Left bumper or L1 button will be used as the sprint button as usual, but if you hold it down while running at a car, for instance, you will missile drop kick the window through and instantly drive it away. So its kind of an instant action button for those who take the less subtle approach.
We can now level up! There is an XP system, I can only imagine it will be earned by either, kill numbers or creativity in kills and such, but either way you can now level up. Level points will be spent on accuracy, melee power, sprint duration, pretty much all skills that can be changed. So what will this mean for the mini games? In number two you played those games to the end so you could earn the right to unlimited sprint or unlocking less vehicle damage, it will be interesting what these do now.
Anyways, that’s the skinny on Saint’s Row: The Third, I shall keep you posted on any new additions of info in the future!
