Last-minute cancellation for MotorStorm: Apocalypse pre-orders

Last-minute cancellation for MotorStorm: Apocalypse pre-orders

15 Mar, 2011

Following the horrifying events in Japan last Friday, Sony have made a decision, at the eleventh hour, to pull the worldwide release of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, out of respect to the victims of the disaster.

The third game in the explosive racing franchise, developed by UK-based team Evolution Studios, takes place in a post-apocalyptic urban setting and features collapsing buildings and destructible environments.

Eurogamer have received word from UK gaming retail giant GAME Group, confirming that all GAME and Gamestation pre-orders have been cancelled, while HMV pre-orders remain active but customers will not receive their copies on Friday as planned.

A GAME Group spokesperson told Eurogamer, “We can only apologise for any inconvenience this will cause. We will continue to work closely with Sony on any further developments with this title. Our thoughts are with the people of Japan at this difficult time.”

A New Zealand release for MotorStorm: Apocalypse had previously been delayed indefinitely, following the tragic earthquake disaster in Christchurch last month.
