31 Mar, 2011

Plants vs. Zombies, undoubtedly the world’s number one horticultural tower defense game, will be munching on the brains of UK Nintendo DS users from May, publisher Mastertronic announced today.

Originally released for PC and Mac, PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies has since been ported to iOS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and currently holds an incredible Metacritic score of 89/100.

The DS version, which includes new mini-games, achievements and other content exclusive to the platform, has been available in the US since January.

Talking about the forthcoming release, Mastertronic’s Product Director Neil McKenna said, “Plants vs. Zombies is the fastest-selling iPhone/iPod strategy game of all time, selling 300,000 copies in the first nine days it was available on the App store.”

“With such a proven track record on a portable platform, we’re delighted to bring Plants vs. Zombies to the world’s most popular handheld gaming device, the Nintendo DS.”

Plants vs. Zombies is released for Nintendo DS in the UK on May 6th.
