Portal 2 May See an Earlier Release Date

15 Apr, 2011

By now you’ve probably heard about a Portal countdown clock that mysteriously appeared earlier this week, and in a matter of minutes the whole entire web had just about lost their minds. No, it didn’t herald an early release for Portal 2. …sort of.

Now that the clock has finally counted to the last second, we have been treated with GLaDOS@Home, a website that Valve has created to get a little exposure for indie titles. The “Projected Launch” clock, now standing at 91 hours, is the real countdown for Portal 2. In order to force the title to release early, Steam members will have to play The Potato Sack, which consists of 13 indie games. Included in this fun little sack are Super Meat Boy, The Wonderful End of the World, Audiosurf, Toki Tori, and Cogs.

Valve seems to have done it again with this win-win situation. Get Portal 2 released early, and get some attention for the indie games out there. What are you waiting for? Fire up your computers and get cracking on these indie games, because it looks like we still have a long ways to go!
