Set – and released – eleven years after cult classic Alice, American McGee’s sicko sequel Madness Returns is still a couple of months off.
Still, that doesn’t stop us horror junkies getting excitedly hysterical about mind-buggering trailers, screenshots and now the official North American box art.
Alice is a PC-exclusive psychological horror game set in the weird world of Wonderland. The original Lewis Carroll stories had their fair share of dark, twisted undertones, but American McGee’s vision goes all-out with themes of grief, suicide and madness. Delightful!
The forthcoming sequel takes us back through the looking glass to meet a twenty-something Alice, as she returns to Wonderland to battle the evil forces plaguing her fragile, f**ked-up mind and uncover the truth surrounding the mysterious fire that killed her entire family.
Alice: Madness Returns is due for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on June 14th in the US, following on the 16th in Europe.
Cannot wait for this. Was a MASSIVE fan of original Alice, which, by the way, is set to be included in this release. This can’t come soon enough. :)
