Gamble Your Life Away with New Vegas’ Upcoming DLC

3 May, 2011

If you enjoyed roaming through New Vegas shooting up all sorts of stuff and gambling your brains out, then you can do it all over again. This time, we’re getting new DLC, as announced earlier today by Bethesda.

Hold on tight, because there’s more than just one, and they’re not Xbox exclusives anymore. Oh no, Bethesda has announced that all three DLC will be available simultaneously for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC gamers.

The first, entitled Honest Hearts, is slated to be released on May 17th (the same day as L.A. Noire? You’re KILLING me, Beth…). In this add-on adventure, you are sent on a quest to Utah’s Zion National Park, and en route your caravan gets mobbed by a raiding party from a local tribe. Of course, when you’re trying to get back to the Mojave, that’s when things get really hairy, and you are now stuck in a war between New Canaanite missionaries and a character Bethesda is naming “the mysterious Burned Man.”

Old World Blues, the second of the DLC trio, is set to be released some time in June. In this story arc, you get sucked in to becoming an experiment, and will learn how some of the monsters that live in the Mojave were born. Bethesda describes it as an adventure where you’ll be trying to find technology to either fight your kidnappers, or side up with them against “an even greater threat.”

Finally, the Lonesome Road will be released in July. The focus of this story is to finish up the history of your Courier character when the original Courier Six, Ulysses, promises to tell you why he never wanted to deliver the Platinum Chip in the very beginning (well, besides not having a game to play if he had agreed to do it). He asks you to do just one more job for him, and it leads you to the Divide, an earthquake-and-storm prone region. Have you ever been taught to never trust a guy who says, “Okay fine I’ll tell you, but only after you do just one more thing for me“? Yeah, that’s a good lesson to learn.

Bethesda has said that all of the DLC will be available for a universal price of $9.99 on the PlayStation Network and Steam, and 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live (which is $9.99).
