It’s no secret that we here at GGS Gamer are Mass Effect nuts, and it was fairly safe to say that Mass Effect 3 was hovering very high at the top of most of our ‘Most Anticipated games of 2011′ lists, and so in that respect today is a dark day.
Electronic Arts today broke the news that the third installment of the Mass Effect trilogy is to be delayed until the ‘first three months of 2012′ via their Facebook fan page. While the news is in the short term disappointing, EA have sighted reasons of wanting to ensure the highest possible quality for the hugely anticipated title. The Official Facebook page sported a quote from the Executive Producer Casey Hudson, saying: ”Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”
The hugely ambitious series finale is said to take place around an ‘epic scale’ battle to save Humanity and the earth from The Reapers invasion. Mass Effect 2 recently saw it’s final piece of DLC ‘Arrival’ earlier this year, which served as the connecting scenario between the second and impending third title. As I said on Twitter, I’m disappointed I’m not going to end Shephard’s adventures this year, but this has also freed up my schedule a bit and now enabled me to buy Skyrim on Day One (originally it was a choice between this and that).
