UK Gaming Chart (w/e May 14th)

16 May, 2011

Brand new and long-awaited first-person shooter, Brink, has taken the gold in this week’s race to the top of the UK all-format gaming chart, a monumental achievement for independent British developer, Splash Damage. To director Paul Wedgewood and the rest of the team, from all of us at GGS Gamer, a hearty congratulations to you all!

Nevertheless, Brink has divided critics and consumers alike; while Official Xbox Magazine called it, “a meticulously designed Live shooter,” and awarded it an impressive 8/10, online gaming publication 1UP.com gave it a damning D grade, branding it, “an unpolished, poorly executed mess of ideas.” Well, your public seem to disagree, chaps.

Portal 2 finally loosens its grip on the top 2, slipping to #4, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean enters the chart at the #2 position. Elsewhere, the only other new entry this week is THQ’s latest entry in their off-road racer series, MK vs ATV: Alive, making a respectable debut at #10.
