Perhaps not in as innovative a way as Super Paper Mario had it, but judging by the looks of the latest batch of Shadows of the Damned screens, we can expect a little 2D action in this surprisingly-fun looking game.
Say WHAT?
You read that right. While most of the game will be taking place in the lovely three-dimensional plane, one screen shot has gotten some of us scratching our heads. Perhaps it could be a mini-game, much like Bayonetta‘s Angel Attack game where angels were shot in an old-school arcade style setting after each mission was completed. This gave you the opportunity to score additional halos to trade for rare, or otherwise expensive, items.
Take a look for yourself at the puzzling shot:
Some of the other accompanying screens have shown that you will be inside of an arcade, or something that appears to be an arcade. Perhaps you’ll be playing a Shadows of the Damned arcade game within the actual game. There’s nothing clever to say to that, right? Let’s hope not. It certainly does add another reason to be even more intrigued by this upcoming title.
Check out these other screens for some psychedelic looking monsters. Is that Predator? He must’ve taken the wrong turn coming off the freeway, because I don’t think he wanted to go Downstairs just yet.
Be ready to go to Hell on June 21st. Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture Inc., Shadows of the Damned will be cruising onto the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
