A ton of Skyrim information is held between the covers of this month’s Official Playstation Magazine. The next installment of the Elder Scrolls already seems to have Game of the Year credentials, these new details really help re-enforce that!
As has been previously mentioned, Dragons can appear at random at any point during the game, flying around you, breathing fire and causing absolute mayhem. However, OPM goes on to say that if a Dragon has been injured in the course of battle, it will no longer be able to fly and will be forced to fight you on the ground! I’m not entirely sure which is the more frightening prospect…
New abilities, known as Dragon Shouts, can be learned during the course of the game. Some of these have now been unveiled by OPM. They include, Fire Breath, Ice Crystals, Lightning Storm, Slow Time and Whirlwind Sprint!
OPM have also unveiled some of the dual-wielding combinations that you can bring into battle such as a Weapon & Torch, Spell & Weapon and Spell & Spell! Bethesda have also confirmed that Hand to Hand has now been removed. No more midnight bar fights for you!
Three new factions have also been revealed (including the already announced Dark Brotherhood, returning from Oblivion). You will be able to take part in a questline with each of these factions and all will be interwoven together. The factions are The Thieves Guild, The College of Winter Hold (For Mages) and the Companions (For Warriors, although that sounds more like a guild for loveless bards!)
Skyrim will also have multiple travel options. Horses will be trotting back onto our screens (assumedly, they’ll be naked and we’ll need to buy their armour on the marketplace for added protection!) and have been vastly improved to help with ease of moving around the World. You’ll also be able to use carriages to take you to all major locations in the World and fast-travel makes a welcome return to the game, although only if you’ve already discovered the location in question.
There are even more details in the magazine, but these are just some of the highlights. As I’m sure you’ll agree, Skyrim keeps sounding better & better.
Skyrim releases this November on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC
