We might have heard the little whispers around that a movie for Devil May Cry may be in the works. Today, those whispers were confirmed by Capcom at E3. While they may have been a little quiet this year, Capcom confirmed that yes, they would in fact be working with Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems on a film adaptation based on Ninja Theory’s reboot.
Details are a little sketchy at the moment, but what we do know is that it will be written by Kyle Ward, who also has a hand in upcoming video-game-to-film adaptations Hitman 2 and Kane and Lynch.
The current title in development, DmC, is being described as an origin story for our favorite white-haired bad-mouthing devil slayer. While Ninja Theory’s revamp of the series initially drew criticism, the latest trailer released just yesterday reveals that there is reasoning behind the decision.
Only time will tell if this movie adaptation will be a success or…something else.
